"Extra Credit" is the eighteenth episode of the second season, and the fifty-eighth episode of The Replacements.

Synopsis[]

When Riley accidentally maxes out her mother's credit card on unicorn merchandise, she must think of a way to raise enough money to pay her back. Meanwhile, Todd became part of a scheme that involves selling completed book reports.

Plot[]

Act I[]

Dick and Riley need Agent K's spy credit card to buy tickets to the upcoming Unicon, an event that celebrates everything about unicorns. Agent K agrees to let Riley borrow her card, as she believes that her daughter is more responsible than her husband. Throughout the rest of the episode, Dick whines about not getting to buy burritos.

Todd asks the family if they saw his Gamecone. Agent K reminds him that she took away his Gamecone privileges because of his bad grades. She won't give it back to Todd until his grades improve. Todd's book report is due in three days.

S2E16 shopping spree

Riley going on an online shopping spree.

At the school library, Todd encounters a kid who sells book reports for a hefty price. Todd attempts to buy one on Moby Dick for a dollar, but after being shown a poorly-written book report, he hands over the rest of his money. Back home, Riley manages to get tickets to Unicon. She prepares to give the card back to Agent K, but the unicorn on the computer entices Riley with offers such as dinner with a unicorn, unicorn pillows, and other unicorn gifts. Riley goes on a spending spree which abruptly ends when she maxes out Agent K's credit card. She desperately tries to return all the items, only to find out that there are no refunds.

The next day at breakfast, Riley worries about what Agent K would do when she finds out. Todd arrives and shows his parents his book report. Agent K wants to see proof of Todd's good grades. Then, she asks Riley for the credit card. Riley tells her mother that she will put it in her purse, then she goes outside to call Fleemco. She tries to get Conrad to replace the money she spent on unicorn merchandise. Conrad believes that Todd is pulling a prank on him, so he hangs up on Riley. Todd overhears Riley and comes up with a plan to distract Agent K. Riley spends the day brainstorming ideas for earning the money back, including a raffle, a garage sale, and a beef jerky sale. When they get home, Agent K asks Riley for her credit card.

Act II[]

As it turns out, Todd gave Agent K a card for a free Butch Burger sandwich. Agent K gets her card back, and the siblings try to come up with another plan. Todd calls Fleemco and lies to Conrad, saying that it’s Agent K’s birthday. He asks Conrad to replace their mailman with a ninja to give Agent K an extra workout. Conrad sarcastically asks Todd if he should replace all the mailmen in the neighborhood with ninjas, but Todd takes him seriously, and Conrad is forced to follow through. Todd explains that Agent K would be too busy stopping ninjas to go shopping, and with the mailmen gone, the things Riley bought won’t be delivered. Prince Cinnamon Boots walks up to Riley with a saddle and nudges her with his nose. Riley yells at P.C.B. to leave her alone, but then she has a breakthrough.

The next day, Riley sells mule rides outside school. There are no takers at first. Riley manages to convince Johnny Hitswell to throw a mule-themed birthday party for his younger sister. Meanwhile, Todd shocks his teachers when he volunteers to write extra credit reports.

Agent K is about to leave the house to go shopping. A deliveryman arrives with a box of unicorn throw pillows, which Agent K doesn’t remember ordering. The deliveryman reveals himself to be a ninja, and Agent K takes him down.

Johnny Hitswell’s sister proclaims Prince Cinnamon Boots to be the best gift ever. P.C.B. gives rides to every party guest, which tires him out. Tiffany, who is attending the party, wants to rent P.C.B. for her own party. She is competing against another rich kid named Jr. Riley declines because Tiffany wants her and P.C.B. to wear costumes, but she changes her mind when Tiffany offers to pay double what Johnny paid. Back at home, Agent K encounters two more ninjas disguised as the Fleemco workers.

Tiffany throws a Western-themed birthday party, and she, Riley, and P.C.B. are dressed as cowboys. Instead of riding P.C.B., she and her guests use the mule for target practice; they squirt him with water. After the party, Jr. stops by to discuss hiring P.C.B., which makes the mule anxious. Riley accepts Jr.’s money, despite seeing P.C.B. whimpering behind a bush.

Act III[]

Todd shows Agent K his English, history, and science reports. He will get his Gamecone if he gets one more good grade; however, he is out of money. The next day, Todd offers the report salesman fifty cents, half a package of Choco Tarts, and a pen cap. The salesman has a math report on quadratic equations, but there’s a catch. Before the salesman can say any more, Todd buys the report.

At Jr.’s birthday party, Riley discovers that the guests are going to use Prince Cinnamon Boots to play Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Jr. offers to pay Riley triple what Tiffany paid, which would be enough to pay off Agent K’s credit card debt. Riley finds out that P.C.B. would do this for her, and she hugs him and calls him “the best mule ever.” As Jr. advances toward the mule, blindfolded, Riley looks back and forth between P.C.B. shaking in fear and the pile of cash in her hands. At the last moment, Riley sticks a picture of Jr. in front of P.C.B., and Jr. ends up pinning the tail on his butt. Insulted, Jr. refuses to pay Riley. Riley apologizes to her mule for using him to make up for her mistake, and he happily licks her.

At school, Mrs. Shusher gathers several students, including Todd, in the library for writing excellent reports. She announces that the math report stood out from all the rest, and she asks the student who wrote it to come forward. It turns out that everyone turned in the same report; she also busted the report salesman, who sold the same paper to everyone.

That afternoon, Agent K arrives home exhausted. Her credit card was denied at Spymart, and she figured out the truth. Riley apologizes to her mother for maxing out her credit card. Agent K announces that she has a special punishment for Riley and Todd and a special treat for Dick Daring. She takes her husband to Unicon while the siblings are forced to wear a horse costume and give rides.

Epilogue[]

Spymart rejects Agent K's card again, this time because Dick Daring maxed out her credit card while buying burritos.
